Flying With Purpose

Every pilot has a reason to fly, but not all pilots have developed their purpose. This kick-off seminar will lay the groundwork for continuing a community culture of safety and proficiency in Southwest Washington. The seminar will clearly define how to actively engage in FAAST Wings and dispel the myths of the Flight Review over a Phase of Wings. Participants will walk away with new resources for personalized learning and proficiency. All levels of experience and ratings will discover a new flying purpose to rejuvenate our passion for aviation.

World War II Pilot Experience

Common Pilot Errors

This three part seminar series will explore how pilots of today can learn from pilots of the past. Today’s aircraft, engines and pilot training have roots from WWII. Based upon actual training films, documentation and resources, this seminar experience will explore the pilot skills and proficiency still relevant to today’s flyers. Previewing of historical films is encouraged, but not required.

Winning Your Wings

Based upon the Jimmy Stewart recruitment film of the same title, the seminar will explore if you fly like a WWII Ace or like a Cadet. Coupled with Ronald Reagan’s “Cadet Classification” film, participants will compare their stick and rudder, navigation and communication skills to those taught in WWII, and analyze how those skills affect the most common pilot errors of past and present.

Quit Stalling or Spin In

Video provided by Zeno Warbirds

Based upon the Navy Department training film that examines the three rules for avoiding spins. The principles discussed are still relevant to today’s General Aviation Pilots. Participants will understand the aerodynamics of stalls and spins, explore the various scenarios that lead to unintentional stall spins accidents, and receive suggested training scenarios for prevention.

Flying Folly

Based upon the US Army Air Corps, training films created to reduce avoidable accidents, this seminar takes a serious look at pilot errors that haunt both WWII and General Aviation alike. In-depth analysis of causal factors and remedies will be explored. This seminar will remind pilots, that each of us must be dedicated to a culture of steadfast safety.

“This series is dedicated to the men and women of the Greatest Generation, whose sacrifice and courage preserved my freedom to fly”
