The COVID-19 stay at home as been hard, especially for those, like me, who have worked hard to isolate for loved ones at home. Because of that, I have not been able to flight instruct or fly with others.
This video was filmed by me for stock footage that will be used in FAAST WINGS seminars later this year. One is on short field landings. The footage at Woodland (W27) demonstrates a go around procedure when an aircraft is too high and will land long.
Historic Pearson Field has numerous communications points for arrival with ATC: The Freeway Split for the 5 and 205, the Confluence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers and Lake Vancouver. These are all captured and will be used for a Safety Seminar on radio communications and arrival procedures for Pearson.
When landing to the east (magnetic heading of 80 degrees) pilots will do an extended base to final approach to landing following the railroads tracks. This procedure to runway 8 is highlighted at the end. Notice the “Heavy”, a commercial airliner, on final approach to Portland International Runway.
Many other Christmas Gifts in the video as well. What can you find?
Remember: Videos are no substitute for obtaining flight instruction from a qualified CFI.
CAUTION PILOTS: Always fly the plane. Set video equipment before engine start and then never touch, think or care about it until the aircraft is on the ground, and secured! What is legal is not always safe, please promote safe, sane and friendly flying.
